What is good about Stafford? The fact that you can live a 5 minute walk from our quaint town and yet 5 minutes from open countryside. At the moment (emphasis on "at the moment") Stafford is not over developed but with all of these new houses that the government is forcing on our green field sites, this will all soon come crashing down. My vision for the town? For all of the derelict buildings and empty plots of land to be used for decent quality housing leaving the green field sites to stay as green field sites. All of the plans for the new shopping centre on the old leisure centre site, the development over the back end of Sainsburys, the new college, the new council offices development etc are all great, but traffic in the town is bad enough as it is. Busses are stuck in the same traffic jams and over use of traffic lights etc. What we need is an organised, sustainable, planned and co-ordinated development. Not throwing up buildings everywhere and expecting a few new sets of traffic lights to sort everything out.

The area of Stafford in which I live, close to the Ranton Abbey estate, is beautiful. The wildlife spectacular, and the greenery wonderful. However, my cottage is along the B5405 - a road which has the national speed limit of 60 mph, a crazy speed for such a beautiful part of Stafford. In fact, I note that the road is recommended in the motorbike website!! It is sad to see badgers and foxes lying along the roadside. I do believe that all rural roads should have a maximum speed limit of 40 mph. If you can achieve this, then I will join your campaign! Regards,
