DAVID KIDNEY, A SUPPORTER OF CHILDREN
Local Labour man, David Kidney says "I’ve received an email from The Baby Feeding Law Group (BFLG) who are calling for a commitment to the protection of infant health through the implementation of World Health Assembly marketing requirements for baby foods.
David explains:
"In my thirteen years as an MP I have supported the work of the BFLG and I would hope my opponents at this election would also do so.
"But what struck me was the irony of the call for support from the BFLG when my Conservative opponent and his party are actually planning to make matters worse for British children.
"I just want to remind people of the Tory threat to cut access to Sure Start Children’s Centres, Child Tax Credits and Child Trust Funds - while giving £200,000 each to the wealthiest 3,000 estates in this country. Is that fair? I don’t think so.
"And The Institute for Fiscal Studies has also criticised David Cameron's claims on tax credits as 'incomplete at best and misleading at worst'.
"My Tory opponent knows his Party will be taking tax credits from families on total household incomes of £31,000 - not £50,000 as his leader has tried to claim. That's a family of two earners on £16,000 each. Contrary to what David Cameron thinks, these people are not well off.
"Whilst I know that the BFLG do an excellent job, here we have a Tory Party and my Tory opponent agreeing to a proposal which will see 1.3 million households on modest and middle incomes lose up to £10 a week if their Party gets into office.”
