TASTE OF STAFFORDSHIRE PRAISED IN PARLIAMENT
Stafford’s Labour MP David Kidney has taken the initiative in tabling an Early Day Motion in the House of Commons praising Taste of Staffordshire and the promotion of Staffordshire’s local food and drink products.
David Kidney says he has tabled the Motion (EDM 1482), with the support of 5 other Staffordshire MPs, to draw attention to the good work that is already being done in the County to support local food and drink producers:
“The Taste of Staffordshire brand is becoming very recognizable and it is important that we all give the promoters of this brand as much support as possible. The Early Day Motion is one way in which the County’s MPs can give their support. I strongly support what Taste of Staffordshire does to promote local food and drink and to support local producers.
“I very much welcome efforts to promote local food and drink products. It is good for the environment in reducing “food miles” and it is good for consumers, who can be confident that local food and drink is produced to high quality standards. In the case of meat products, consumers can also be sure of high animal welfare standards on local farms.
“This Early Day Motion is intended to attract wider attention to a very good initiative in Staffordshire and to urge people in other parts of the country also to give support to local producers of food and drink in their areas.” |
