GIVE POLICE THE TOOLS TO DO THEIR JOB EFFECTIVELY

Local Labour man, David Kidney, today demanded that his Tory and Liberal opponents support him on the need for the retention of DNA and the extended usage of CCTV.

David says:

"Being in power is about taking responsibility. If you want to stop crime you have to use and utilise all the tools available, including the latest developments in science and technology.   Both the Tories and Liberals are opposed to the retention of DNA and the extended usage of CCTV.
"I know Stafford constituents do not want to be victims of crime.  And I support the use of DNA and CCTV in the fight against crime on behalf of all constituents. Like all the powers we grant the police, these are subject to rules of law.

"Both opposition parties speak of civil liberties.  But do not Stafford constituents have civil liberties – like the right to be free of the fear of burglary or violent assault?

"Are these parties more concerned about the rights of criminals than the rights of law-abiding, hard working Stafford people?"

Labour recruited Katie Piper, the model who was attacked with acid in Golders Green, London:
"I believe CCTV is an essential tool in today's day and age in ensuring the safety of the public," she told a Labour press conference.
"If you don't have anything to hide, you don't have anything to fear. Without CCTV my attackers could have walked free."
Ms Piper, who was forced to undergo facial reconstruction in the wake of the attack, said the perpetrators would not have been caught if it were not for the cameras. Both the attackers were sentenced to life in jail.
