Companies urged to 'rent' employees to charities to stave off job cuts
I have been contacted this week by Stafford Chamber of Commerce and SDVS, (Stafford and District Voluntary Service) who are planning to work together in a really imaginative way to help tackle the problems both Private companies and the Voluntary Sector are now finding with the recession.
Companies are being urged to 'rent' employees to charities to stave off job cuts
StaffShare, encourages and enables companies to offer the valued workers for secondments to not-for-profit organisations. Employees under threat of either redundancy or short time working both qualify for the scheme.
Work Wise StaffShare is an automated system, which lets organisations to sell and buy the time of skilled professionals.
It was launched in January, and has now been extended to help charities, third sector organisations and SMEs in need of specialist skills.
There are over 3700 charities, voluntary organisations and community groups in Staffordshire, many of whom would benefit from additional and specialist expertise that private sector organisations may have, and may be currently underutilised or under threat.
More details of StaffShare can be found at www.staffshare.co.uk/
More details of voluntary and community organisations can be had from Stafford District Voluntary Services at www.sdvs.org.uk or you can talk to Mike Allen on 01785 60 66 70
I think this is a very promising scheme and I hope that both businesses and charities will make use of it to help keep valuable employees working and to benefit the community.
If you would like more details of this or wish to discuss ways in which your business or charity might benefit you are welcome to contact me.
