The Boiler Scrappage scheme
The Boiler Scrappage scheme Launched this week is a great way to help plumbers and tradesmen help beat the recession and help beat climate change at the same time.
It will help 125,000 householders in England by giving a voucher worth £400 to scrap their old “G- rated boiler for a modern “A rated boiler, or a renewable heating system such as a biomass boiler or heat pump.
This is a scheme which helps everyone.
- It is providing work for people in the heating industry during the down turn.
- It will mean that people have a more efficient heating system that will save an estimated £200-£235 a year, and
- the upgraded systems will reduce carbon emissions, to help with our carbon cutting commitment.
The Government’s action has already triggered some companies to complement, and in some cases match, the offer and it is expected others will follow suit. This will extend the scheme to many more householders and safeguard work for the heating industry. People are advised to shop around to find the best deal which suits them before applying to the Scheme.
If you are an owner occupier or if you rent out a property you can find out more by calling the Energy Saving Trust’s advice line on 0800 512 012 or logging on to www.est.org.uk
