SUPPORT AREVA’S PROJECT AND SECURE HIGH QUALITY JOBS INTO THE FUTURE

David Kidney has expressed his strong support for the project unveiled by Areva T&D last week to modernise its St. Leonard’s Avenue site in Stafford.

He says the Centres of Excellence already established at Stafford service a global manufacturing business and this project is the best way to ensure that the jobs remain in the UK:

“My time as MP for Stafford constituency has coincided with a rapid expansion of global markets and easy access to transport and the internet. Many times in this era we have witnessed jobs in manufacturing transferred to places in Eastern Europe or the Far East where labour costs are much lower.

“Here is an opportunity for a Stafford-based global business to anchor high quality and well paid jobs in the UK. We will all benefit from this development and I support it strongly. I hope the entire community will give its backing to this very welcome proposal.”

The Company’s plans are extensive and will have to clear a number of hurdles in the coming months, including planning, flood prevention and financing.
